Pilates & Hydrotherapy Gold Coast

Pilates and hydrotherapy are both wonderful ways of maintaining or improving your body tone and core musculature without strenuous resistance exercise machines. At Hinterland Physiotherapy we offer personal Nerang Pilates assessments, hydrotherapy sessions and exercise programs for one to two persons. Pilates and hydrotherapy is also used as an adjunct to other treatment. They are especially helpful for older people and new mums to help regain their body tone without risking muscle injuries.

So what is Pilates?

Pilates concentrates on the core postural muscles, which supports your spine and gives you that extra support to keep your body evenly balanced.

The Pilates exercise will teach you to be attentive of your breathing and spinal alignment to strengthen your deep, core muscles. Light resistance exercises tone and strengthen the body and the stretches promote flexibility, providing the full body workout.

What is Hydrotherapy?

Hydrotherapy uses warm water (35°C) to facilitate muscle and joint activity and movement. Immersion in a warm water pool allows great freedoms to joint movements that have been affected by pain, arthritis, surgery or stroke. By decreasing the effects of gravity on the joint, exercising becomes less painful and you can build up more strength.

Hinterland Physiotherapy conducts hydrotherapy sessions in the Hydrotherapy pool at Allamanda Hospital, Spendelove St in Southport. The Physiotherapist gets in to the pool with the patient to conduct the sessions, enabling one on one treatments focusing on rehabilitating the injured joint as well as the whole body. Sessions last for half an hour.
